‘ardkore, a thing like you and me // Christopher Corey Allen // 4.13.19 – 5.11.19

Christopher Corey Allen is a transdisciplinary artist utilizing video, print media, performance, and sculpture to explore ways of existing outside of normative understandings of the subject as bound, contained, and intended for progress.

In ‘ardkore, a thing like you and me, CCA presents a series of videos and sculptures that examine the liminal space between object and subject.  Drawing from a range of influences including rave culture, combat sports and the semiotics of pattern; CCA looks at shapeshifting in social structures, and the social cues and gestures that are rendered passable in each structure.

Allen has twice been artist-in-residence at HAIR+NAILS, turning the storefront into a green screen video set in the off-season. Allen’s 2017 residency hatched the video/sculpture/print show “MERE BELLIES”.
